Franklin FDS Digital Automatic Pump Controller

The Franklin FDS Digital Automatic Pump Controller is an inline automatic pressure controller and pump-protection device for compatible 230V single-phase water pumps up to 2.2kW and 16 amps.

It automatically starts the pump when system pressure falls and stops it when water demand ends. Unlike a basic press-control unit, the FDS allows the starting pressure and outlet pressure to be independently adjusted, helping provide stable water pressure throughout the system.

The digital display shows outlet pressure and motor-current information. Integrated pressure, flow and current sensors protect the pump against dry running, excessive current, overpressure and rotor blockage.

Installation and selection warning

The Franklin FDS is not a variable-speed drive and does not change the speed of the pump motor. It controls pump starting and stopping and regulates the outlet pressure through its integrated control system.

Before ordering, confirm that the pump is 230V single phase, no larger than 2.2kW and has a motor full-load current no higher than 16 amps. Both the motor power and current limits must be checked.

The selected outlet pressure must be within the pump’s actual operating capability after allowing for suction lift, pumping water level, elevation and pipe-friction losses. Setting the controller above the pump’s available pressure will not increase pump performance and may cause continuous operation or repeated faults.

Install the FDS in the correct flow direction and select the 25mm or 32mm model to suit the system pipework. Maximum operating pressure is 12 bar and maximum water temperature is 50°C. The IP65 enclosure is not suitable for immersion or flooding.

Electrical installation must be completed by a licensed electrician. The built-in dry-running protection does not replace direct tank or bore water-level protection where positive level control is required.
